Frequently
Asked Questions
Q:
How does QLog facilitate personnel shift changes?
A: All activity, which is posted to the queue within
a particular region, appears for all QLog users that
have been assigned to that region. At shift change,
new users log onto the system and the queue immediately
fills with all of the on-going activity. At this point,
the user can review the active logs. Additionally,
hot buttons exist to recall all of the users activity
for the current day.
Q:
Does QLog support alphanumeric paging?
A: Yes, upon saving the record, all remarks will be
automatically sent to the list of recipients specified
on the “To-List” tab that have a “mobile”
phone number. Currently, QLog interfaces with a wide
variety of cell phone pager providers.
Q:
Can QLog interface with mainframe systems?
A: Yes, QLog has a built-in technology to seamlessly
interface with mainframe and other legacy systems.
Q:
Can QLog operate in a mobile setting permitting the
user to log work activity and subsequently upload
the data into the system?
A: Yes, QLog fully supports mobile data collection.
As a result, master station loggers can input data
that is synchronized with master database in real-time,
near-real time, scheduled, or ad hoc modes.
Q:
Can Duty-Roster templates be modified on a daily basis?
A: Yes, Duty Roster templates exist to allow for mass
assignments with QLog. While no Duty-Roster record
can be modified from the past, the template can be
customized for daily input.
Q:
What are the limitations for searching the MSL?
A: A powerful generic search grid exists to allow
the user complete flexibility for searching the MSL.
The options for searching are table-driven which enables
complete freedom to perform even the most detailed
queries.
Q:
If a Log currently exists, can a user other than the
creator add additional information?
A: Yes, in two ways. First, if only an additional
remark is needed, any QLog user can append a remark
to an existing Log entry. At this point, an automated
user/date stamping occurs for tracking and auditing
purposes. Secondly, an unlimited number of Log records
can be created and linked to the “Parent”
Log. Upon retrieval, all linked records are available
for completeness. No log entry, however, can be modified.
Once submitted, the entry becomes a permanent record.
Q:
Is the Log history available in an exportable format?
A: Yes, all Logs can be exported into a variety of
formats.
Q: Can a Log be reposted back into the Queue
once it has been cleared?
A: Yes, any log retrieved in the MSL Search application
can be posted back into any/all Queues.
Q:
Can more than one person update the MSL at the same
time?
A: Yes, there is no restriction on the number of concurrent
users.
Q:
Does QLog provide reports by computer?
A: Yes, the user as well as the computer name is stamped
in every log entry. As a result, reports are available
based on computer name. Additionally, the computer
name can be used as basic search criteria within the
MSL Search application.
Q:
Can the entire MSL be searched?
A: Yes, in fact the default search criteria spans
all log entries. The search algorithm and table design
has been shown to rapidly search millions of Log records
within seconds using complex criteria
Q:
How does time stamping work and can the MSL be searched
by Time frame?
A: Upon saving a Log entry, the user name and current
[server] date-time is stamped against the record.
The “date” and “time” portion
is also stored separately allowing all combinations
of dates and times to be used as mutually exclusive
search criteria.
Q:
Can Master Station Log entries be changed?
A: No. If a Log is in error, an additional Log entry
can be created documenting the correction and linked
to the “Parent” log.
